Time is ticking away. Put my folks on the plane home yesterday which means we are another step closer to heading off ourselves. And we are now under 3months until our due date! Talk about scarey. Hopefully mum can sort out a midwife when she gets home. Bit worried I will miss out which is scarey since I have done no reading up and I will need to find antenatal classes too. Why am I soo useless at organising myself .. I really hope this changes once our little monkey comes!
Had a rough night last night too, upset belly saw me up in the middle of the night and then I tossed and turned in and out of sleep until the alarm went. Sore hips/buttocks region and tailbone saw me turning over all the time and with my belly being unhappy the turning would make me feel yukky. Pete was sweet though, very concerned and wanted to help but there was nothing he could do, but he did rub my back which felt good. Woke up feeling like I needed a sleep and still feel that way now. It is funny how pregnancy slows down everything so I can’t even pinpoint which meal/food I ate that set me off and poor Flicka had to endure hearing my internal pipes work it all through. But he/she did do alot of kicking afterwards which made me happy.

wowa .. how amazing it is/was!! My sweet Pete organised this for my birthday, so we popped down to the Babyshow at Earls Court on Sunday. It was jammers, with big buddah bellies everywhere and you had to keep your eyes open to dodge being run over by all the prams and their crazy mum/dad drivers!

Not at all good timing and I really don’t want it. But I just have to hold in there and ride it out. Hopefully it won’t stick around too long because we go to Tuscany on Saturday for a week with my folks before they head back home, and then we leave for NZ not long after. So it has been all go and the weather in London has been shit to say the least! With alot of coughing and spluttering people around so there is no surprise that I have picked it up. Boo!!

I had my check up on Wednesday. Pete came along in the hope we would get to listen to the heartbeat again. Indeedy we did. Such a buzz to hear our little monkeys heartbeat, Pete loved it!! But as usual she took the mic away way too quickly. But the look on Petes face and hearing our babys heartbeat was priceless!!
The doc did all her tests, my blood pressure was all good, my tummy measurements were as they should be, Flicka was lying across my middle not up and down, and she said which end would be his head. Pete thought the way she was pushing around on my belly it would hurt but she was very skilled. Then I had to do the lovely urine test and of course I had nothing in me. What little I got out had some white cells in it or something, so I had to do a sample at work in the afternoon and drop it off to the doctors on the way home so they could send it off for testing. Urine infections are very common during pregnancys but hopefully it comes back all clear.
I told her about my calves feeling like they want to cramp up all the time. She measured and felt them to make sure they were both the same size. And told me to eat more bananas for their potassium which should help. She did say if one gets bigger than the other, goes red and sore to get back in and see them because of BVT, which again can be a symptom during pregnancy. They have felt very tight lately but my feet feel a little swollen too, I have read that is very commen. But I am a little worried with flying to Italy for a holiday next month before the big flight home to NZ. I will have to get some flights socks and keep stretching and walking around for sure!

That was such a laugh. We had a pretty cruisey day with Mum and Dad around London and Richmond but we made dinner at home tonight since they had to be up and gone by 6am this morning. So last night while we were relaxing on the couch Flicka start to move about a bit. Pete told me to go lie down next to Mum so she could get feel her new baby. Flicka was a good little boy/girl and put up a great show for his Pamma to the point she had to take her hand off! She had forgotten what the kicking was like and I just laughed at her! Made me feel pretty good, I don’t think she ever felt my sisters kids kick while inside!! Woohoo.
I told her that she will be well loved by this little monkey, just after she had been let down by my sisters two little boys when she rang home. They just wanted their Pop which deflated Mum a bit. So she came running to me and rubbed my belly and told it to be a little girl and love her Pamma. Very cute! Will have to line Dad up for the next kicking session when they return to us next month!!

Our little monkey has had some great kicking moments, I love it and the crazy things my belly does with all the movement. You look at the bumps protruding and wonder what part of our little production it is. I try and tickle him but am not sure if he can feel it. He seems to shy away from my hand sometimes but Pete gets great responses to both his voice and his hand. So magical! It is like wonderful little family moments which we can’t get enough of. Pete has tried listening to Flicka through a wine glass but all he can hear is my belly gurggling or my heartbeat. Soo cute watching him though. We have brought Flickas first story book too, Pete has read it once to my belly which he found really strange to do, we need to do it more often! And it is a sweet story about a Papi Fox and his baby fox, we saved a fox just recently too!! They say if you read a story to your baby while in the womb it becomes their favourite most relaxing story afterwards. Will be interesting to see if this comes true! Back to the kicking, it is a crazy feeling for me and for Pete feeling my belly .. knowing that is our little monkey. Some days he seems pretty chilled, other days he has great fun. Oh, and the feeling when I think he is doing rolly pollys, like when you loose your stomach going over a little hill in the car or on a roller coaster ride .. such a weird feeling but I like it and Pete loves to watch my face. I will miss all of this afterwards. A very special feeling.

What a crazy day. I was a little nervous wreck without thinking I would be! I was cleaning and baking cheese scones and setting up the lounge as their bedroom and a little jumpy. Pete was laughing at me and telling me off saying I would be upsetting Flicka. Then the wait at the airport was shocking, on our way to the airport on the tube their plane was early, then at the airport it was delayed. I was a teeny weeny bit emotional just waiting, bouncing up and down on my feet like a nutter. Such a funny girl I am. But while we were waiting we did see ‘Big’ from Sex in the City walk through, classic!

Wasn’t too sure what would happen in this visit!?! I forgot to even book it but was lucky that when we went for the scan they could squeeze me in. It was just a visit for a chat and I got my results from all the tests they did off my bloods taken at my first midwife visit. She was a funny lady, couldn’t stop talking. Told me off for saying I only wanted one kid and a dog and then went on to say she wishes she had only had one kid (I am sure she didn’t mean it though?). Go figure, people are funny. And when I told her we had decided to go home to New Zealand she was shocked to find out that we have cities and towns and jobs like other places in the world, she thought NZ was all green and agricultural only. I had a great laugh on that one. I did ask if we could get another scan through the NHS but you only get two, and two we have had. Anything further we have to go private and pay. Bummer! I really thought the midwife visits would be more informative but they aren’t, so I am still as naive as ever. Doh. I did weigh myself while I was there and was happy I had pretty much only put the weight of our little monkey on. Phew, I really thought I would balloon but so far I haven’t, touch wood I don’t!

was today .. yay. I was in such a good mood this morning, and not just because I wasn’t going into the office. Pete was laughing at me because I was in such a good mood. And the mood was well worth it. We got to the hospital and went straight in. The paper was tucked in, the gel went on and we were straight into it. There was our little production, soo much bigger than last time (of course) but still crazy how much of a change it was between 12 and 20weeks. Flicka was all chilled out on his/her side, just like our last scan and was well behaved. The ultrasound technician went straight to work on taking measurements and explaining what she was doing each step of the way which was nice. Explaining what we were looking at. And she was very happy with everything she saw which made us very happy!!!!
